Dr. Olivia Palmer is a dentist specializing in general, aesthetic and implant dentistry and the owner of Atlantic Implant Dentistry located West of Ashley the 61 West building. Born and raised in Charleston, Dr. Palmer graduated high school from Ashley Hall School for girls. She holds a degree in art history from the College of Charleston and received her dental degree from the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC).

Dr. Palmer’s post-graduate education includes attending the L.D. Pankey Institute for Dental Education and completing an anesthesia residency, including conscious sedation, at both MUSC and the Medical College of Georgia. In addition, she graduated from the Medical College of Georgia’s maxi-course in implant dentistry and subsequently completed the examination process for the American Academy of Implant Dentistry’s Associate Fellow status. Dr. Palmer is currently serving as a Secretary of the Southern District for this Academy. She remains one of only four such associate fellows in the state of South Carolina. Dr. Palmer is also the only general dentist in Charleston with surgical privileges at both Roper Hospital and Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital.

Her extensive postgraduate training and certification allow her to handle the majority of a patient’s dental needs, including tooth and root replacement (implants and bridges), gum disease (periodontics), root canals (endodontics) and aesthetic dentistry. Dr. Palmer also specializes in treating infants with cleft lip and palate and has volunteered at the Carolina Cleft Lip and Palate Center since 1982.

Dr. Palmer opened Atlantic Implant Dentistry in historic downtown Charleston in 1982, and today has a new, state-of-the-art dental facility West of the Ashley.
